Notice of Meeting - Hastings Police Civil Service Commission
The Hastings Police Civil Service Commission will meet at Hastings City Hall on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a restructure into a Public Safety advisory commission. Wellhead Public Hearing

There will be a public hearing on the City’s Wellhead Protection Plan Amendment, during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010, at 7:00pm in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 101 East 4th Street.

Recycling Zone Tours

Tours of Dakota County’s Recycling Zone are now being offered again to school groups, scouts and other organizations. Please visit Dakota County’s website for more information on scheduling a tour.

HEDRA seeking Marketing RFQs

The Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA) is publishing a request for qualifications (RFQ) from professionals, teams, or consultants to prepare, a Hastings Awareness Branding Campaign to coincide with the construction of the replacement for the Highway 61 Bridge. Proposals are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010. Click here to view the complete RFQ.

Hastings Highway 61 Bridge Type Revealed!!
MnDOT has finalized the contract for the Hastings Bridge replacement project with Lunda/Ames, and the type of bridge has been revealed! A TIED ARCH Bridge will be constructed. Permanent construction activity is scheduled to start in October, and the new bridge scheduled to be completed in May of 2013. 2010 Construction Activity

The City’s 2010 Infrastructure Improvements project is set to begin during the week of June 14th! Stay informed all summer long by viewing the latest Construction Updates, and sign up to have these updates E-mailed to you.


Storm Water Utility
On January 29, 2010, the Hastings City Council approved a Storm Water Utility fee as an alternative method of funding storm water infrastructure maintenance and improvements, required storm water system inspections and reporting, and the administration of policies relative to forthcoming mandates by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization (VRWJPO). Ongoing & Upcoming MnDOT Projects
MnDOT contractors have started work on Highway 61 within the City to replace concrete pedestrian ramps and extend some sidewalk segments. The pavement on Highway 61 in the City will eventually be milled and overlaid with a new blacktop surface, and the traffic signal at County Road 46/47 will be replaced. All work is scheduled to be wrapped up by July 23rd. MnDOT contractors will start on a pavement resurfacing project on Highway 61 in Cottage Grove in mid-June. This notice may be provided on the homepage of the primary web site maintained by the political subdivision for a period of not less than 90 consecutive days. For the City of Hastings, titles and base salaries for 2010 are: City Administrator: $123,754.24; Fire & EMS Director: $105,714.23; Public Works Director: $105,666.06.
