The Hastings Police Civil Service Commission will meet at Hastings City Hall on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a restructure into a Public Safety advisory commission. The Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA) is publishing a request for qualifications (RFQ) from professionals, teams, or consultants to prepare, a Hastings Awareness Branding Campaign to coincide with the construction of the replacement for the Highway 61 Bridge. MnDOT has finalized the contract for the Hastings Bridge replacement project with Lunda/Ames, and the type of bridge has been revealed! A TIED ARCH Bridge will be constructed. Permanent construction activity is scheduled to start in October, and the new bridge scheduled to be completed in May of 2013. On January 29, 2010, the Hastings City Council approved a Storm Water Utility fee as an alternative method of funding storm water infrastructure maintenance and improvements, required storm water system inspections and reporting, and the administration of policies relative to forthcoming mandates by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization (VRWJPO). MnDOT contractors have started work on Highway 61 within the City to replace concrete pedestrian ramps and extend some sidewalk segments. The pavement on Highway 61 in the City will eventually be milled and overlaid with a new blacktop surface, and the traffic signal at County Road 46/47 will be replaced. All work is scheduled to be wrapped up by July 23rd. MnDOT contractors will start on a pavement resurfacing project on Highway 61 in Cottage Grove in mid-June.
